Flix for Short: Paperman

0

The Flixist Awards haven’t landed yet this year (we like to do them around the same time as the Academy because we’re cool like that), but if we had a Best Animated Short category Paperman would be my winner. Hell, if we could nominate shorts for Best Animated Film then Paperman would be my winner.

You may have seen the Disney produced short before Wreck-It Ralph, but if you didn’t you have to check it out. The animation is pure classic Disney — something you quickly realize you’ve been missing in this digital animation dominated world. However, it uses a new technology that combines hand drawn work with computer generated animation to create that seamless mix of classic animation with the the crispness of computer work. It’s really quite stunning.

Oh, and the story is fantastic as well.
