Play Dead asks the question that I’ve often asked when it comes to the zombie apocalypse: what will happen to all our pets? The short film follows a group of dogs as they find themselves separated from their masters and thrown into a world in decline. It’s basically Homeward Bound, but with zombies. And it’s great! For other people like me that are always a little hinky about seeing violence to dogs in things, be warned that there’s one moment of a dog getting hurt, but it’s done very quickly, and most of the rest of the little violence to animals that there is is off screen.
I do love this sort of high concept storytelling, so I’m always happy to share. Do you think your pets would do well in the zombie apocalypse?
