Fox will walk with the dinosaurs

Hollywood needs more dinosaurs. This is an irrefutable fact. Flixist’s rough-and-tumble early days have tried to remedy this, but there are only so many Tommy Wiseau-themed error messages to go around. Fortunately, Fox is hearing the cries of the people and giving us what we want: dinosaurs.

Fox is very close to purchasing the distribution rights to Walking with Dinosaurs, the immensely cool CGI documentary series/live action animatronics stage show. The proposed film, being written by John Collee of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World and Happy Feet, will be a “CG/live-action family film” and will be co-produced by BBC Earth and Reliance Big Pictures.

I got to see the live-action show when it swung through Orange County, and it was fantastic! It’s freaking dinosaurs, people! The show is also amazing for unleashing your inner ten year-old. The movie is being done by the guy behind Happy Feet, so I can’t say I’m thrilled, but this is a very cool property, and I’m anxious to see where it goes.
