Ghosts can’t bleed but people sure can in red band trailer for The Grudge

THE GRUDGE - Red Band Trailer (HD)

Ghost stories have never been much my bag, so I haven’t really spent much time with The Grudge franchise. That all might change soon, however, since the upcoming remake has what appears to be a lot of blood in it. I sure do like me some blood.

Much like the trailer for IT: Chapter Two, we open with an extended scene that demonstrates old women are always creepy followed by a barrage of quick snippets and then a reuse of the ol’ hand growing out the back of John Cho’s head.

I’m very much into the opening bit between Andrea Riseborough and Lin Shay. Riseborough is as controlled as ever and Shay is always willing to go a hundred and ten percent into whatever weird shit the filmmakers want to get her up to. This is all directed by Nicolas Pesce, the director of The Eyes of My Mother and Piercing, as well, so there’s really no reason not to be excited for this thing.

Remakes can sometimes be great, and right now The Grudge has all the right pieces in all the right places. We’ll find out for sure when it curses theaters on January 3, 2020.
