Godzillla reboot gets Frank Darabont, casting rumors

Okay, so there’s good news and bad news. Bad news is that Legendary Pictures has ousted two of their producers for the upcoming Godzilla reboot (which is now set to start filming this March, with a May 2014 release date), Dan Lin and Roy Lee due to a few issues (according to Hitflix), but the good news is that Legendary doesn’t seem to give a damn since the rest of production is moving along smoothly.

Well…sort of. Godzilla is getting yet another rewrite. I’d normally be alarmed since it’s so late in the game, but Frank FREAKIN’ Darabont has signed on to do some final touches. That’s…spectacular. Darabont is currently known for The Walking Dead (which has gotten better recently), The Blob, Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile. I’m ecstatic and insanely looking forward to this now. He’s probably not going to do a complete rewrite (because filming’s already so close), so he’ll most likely just strengthen the weaker parts of the script.

Also, with all of this third rewrite business, we now have a short list of actors rumored to be considered for the lead including: Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy, and Caleb Landry Jones with Joseph Gordon Levitt apparently turning down the role (because he’s so hot right now). I’m personally vying for Cavill so I can pretend I’m getting the Godzilla vs. Giant Robots vs. Superman crossover movie I’ve been dreaming of since I was six.
