Highly doubtful that Rambo: Last Blood will be last Rambo movie

Do expect blood though

Sylvester Stallone's name is attached to not one, but two wildly successful, popular, and uneven  series in the two R's: Rambo and Rocky. The development course of each series has been erratic and encouraging all at the same time, with Rocky transmogrifying from Oscar winner, to full-throttled patriotism machine, back to... Oscar nominee. Rambo, on the other hand, had a weird shift early, switching from a heavy-handed condemnation of war to shooting galleries that got more and more gory with each sequel. A decade plus after the fourth one, a new Rambo movie starring Sly is coming this September, with some very big changes.

Previously about the Vietnam War, Rambo then darted around to Afghanistan then Myanmar. This time, however, it looks like the fight's going to be a little closer to home *100% genuine gasp.* Deadline states that the newest Rambo, subtitled Last Blood, sees Stallone working on a ranch, trying to peacefully live his life after making confetti out of many a generic soldier. However, he must cross the border and fight a presumably brutal Mexican cartel leader played by Sergio Peris-Mencheta who has kidnapped his friends daughter. How.... topical?

Stallone is also co-writing the screenplay, which actually doesn't tell us anything because he wrote both Rocky and Rambo III, two films galaxies apart in quality. Stallone is like a knock-off Nicolas Cage in the sense that sometimes you'll get genuinely incredible, amazing performances, and other times you'll be Judge Dredd. Honestly, with how insane the last one was, maybe Last Blood should go full camp a lá Machete, or at least take some bizarre spin on the commando killing spree genre. Rambo has been mowing down people for 37 years, he must want to spice things up a little bit, Maybe these movies are like Stallone's versions of Grown Ups, but with extreme fitness regimens instead of Kevin James. Rambo: Last Blood is set for release sometime in September
