Jai Courtney cast as John McClane's son in Die Hard 5

It's been a while since we heard anything about A Good Day to Die Hard (aka Dielander: The Hardening and Die Hardermaus), but now we've got some news concerning the role of John McClane's son Jack. Deadline reports that Jai Courtney of Spartacus: Blood and Sand has signed to play the part. (Die Hard: Blood and Sand would be a better title than A Good Day to Die Hard, by the way, even though it wouldn't work with the plot.)

In case you've forgotten, the fifth Die Hard movie will take place in Moscow, and will probably involve lots of monkeyshines, tomfoolery, and the yippie-kai-yay-ing of mother f**kers. John Moore (Max Payne, Flight of the Phoenix) is set to direct. Production on As I Lay Dying Hard should be starting soon, especially if they want to hit that release date of Valentine's Day 2013.

No other casting news thus far, but rumors have it that Patrick Stewart is being considered as the lead villain, a Russian general who is only listed on IMDb as "Russian general." You know what? I really hope that's the character's name in the finished film.
