Jeffrey Wright has been cast as Commissioner Gordon for The Batman

Yesterday on Twitter, director Matt Reeves announced that Jeffrey Wright will be portraying Commissioner Gordon in his upcoming film The Batman. Wright has been rumored to appear in the film from as early as last year with The Hollywood Reporter drawing attention to negotiations earlier in September. The news is now 100% official, which is sure to be good for fans wondering.

Wright has appeared in a number of hits over the years, the most commercially successful being The Hunger Games films. He is likely most recognized from his turn as Felix Leiter in both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, though is certainly more dynamic than that role would entail. He should make for a solid choice as the rough and gruff police chief.
