Marvel's Jessica Jones: Season 3 | Date Announcement | Netflix

When we last left the characters of Jessica Jones by the end of season 2, everyone was tired and angry, and pretty much all of them hated each other. With the recent cancellation purge of all Netflix-Marvel shows, Jessica and friends have one last shot to get their stuff together. Per a new teaser video, the final season of Jessica Jones will go up on Netflix on June 14.

Purple is replaced with red, as a new villain appears to be threatening the super-powered private investigator. This new character calls Jessica a “fraud” and a “cheater no longer,” for reasons unbeknownst to us. According to a synopsis of the third season from Netflix, it will take this threat for Jessica to reunite with her estranged adopted sister Trish “Patsy” Walker.

The log line is as follows:

When Jessica (Krysten Ritter) crosses paths with a highly intelligent psychopath, she and Trish (Rachael Taylor) must repair their fractured relationship and team up to take him down. But a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.

Along with Ritter (who made her directorial debut directing an episode of this season) and Taylor, core cast members Carrie-Anne Moss and Eka Darville are joined by new cast members Benjamin Walker, Jeremy Bobb, Sarita Choudhury, Tiffany Mack, Jessica Frances Dukes, Aneesh Sheth, and Rebecca DeMornay. Despite the season arriving mere weeks from now, there is no information about who these new characters are, about matching up how rushed the promotion was for The Punisher season 2.

Given that showrunner Melissa Rosenberg intended to leave the show after season 3, before its untimely cancellation, fans of Jessica Jones might expect more of a proper ending for this show. In comparison, sister shows Luke Cage and Iron Fist ended with massive cliffhangers and set-up, making their cancellations far more disappointing. It appears that Marvel Television is making Hulu their newest home, with a new Ghost Rider show due for the platform. Other networks aren’t allowed to touch the Marvel-Netflix properties for the next two years, so fans can hope for a revival of their favorite shows after that.
