Jon Favreau joins Spider-Man: Homecoming

Because he's Happy

Spider-Man: Homecoming has been a treasure trove of casting news, with notable stars like Michael Keaton, Donald Glover and Zendaya joining the large and diverse cast for the upcoming reboot. Now we've got another name to add to that list, and one that will tie the movie back into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe – Jon Favreau will reprise his role as Happy Hogan, according to Variety.

Favreau's character was Tony Stark's trusty bodyguard and pal in all three Iron Man films, and Favreau himself holds a bit of an important place in the MCU. As the man who directed Iron Man and Iron Man 2, he's arguably responsible for kicking off the ever-expanding mega-franchise.

It's unknown what role Hogan will play in Homecoming's plot or how large his part will be, but given his connection to Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark, already confirmed to appear in the movie, it's a safe bet to assume his scenes will be associated with that character in some way. Spider-Man: Homecoming also stars Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei and Angourie Rice and hits theaters June 20.
