Jonathan Glazer will reteam with A24 for his next film

A somber 20th century drama

Since his feature film debut in 2000 with the Ben Kingsley-mad crime drama Sexy Beast, English filmmaker Jonathan Glazer's mantra would seem to be "quality over quantity." Four years later he gave us Birth, the brilliant Nicole Kidman-led mystery. Leap ahead nine years to Under the Skin in 2013, and you've got yourself an incredible track record across three films. With a similar wait, Glazer will be returning to feature filmmaking with a new drama, set to shoot next year.

Described as a Holocaust drama in which “the bystanders, the onlookers, [and] the complicit” are explored, it certainly sounds as if Glazer's attention towards psychological evalutation will be front and center. Examining “how it would be possible to stand by and watch that" sounds like the kind of nerve-wracking cinema Glazer has made a career off of.

Set to shoot in Poland next year, the film remains untitled though is said to be inspired by Martin Amis novel The Zone of Interest. A24, Film4, Access Entertainment, and producers James Wilson (You Were Never Really Here) and Ewa PuszczyƄska (Cold War) are collaborating on the project.
