Kat Dennings' role expanded in Thor: The Dark World

Thor was the black sheep of the Marvel universe films. It had more cosmic elements and didn't feel as tight (or interesting) as the rest of the films. However, with a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, and Anthony Hopkins, its cast had a certain level of pedigree that the others didn't have (save for both Iron Man films). With all of the big names attached to the first Thor film, and perhaps being cast into an unnecessary role, Dennings' Darcy Lewis offered little more than a few one-liners and a porcelain face.

However, reports are coming out about her attachment to the sequel, Thor: The Dark World, and perhaps an expanded role. This comes as great news, because Dennings is a very talented actress and being surrounded by some serious Hollywood A-listers will hopefully give her more opportunities in the future. I want everything to add together for her to become an amazing action star, or at the very least, a fight scene with Scarlett Johansson in the Avengers sequel.
