LeBron James and Ben Simmons join forces for new comedy

Real-life ties from real-life guys

Fresh off his first full season that included a playoff series win and the Rookie of the Year award, Ben Simmons is already following his mentor's footsteps and dipping his toes into the entertainment industry. It's been announced that NBC has authorized a script for a show from SpringHill Entertainment, the company owned and operated by LeBron James and Maverick Carter.

James and Simmons have been practicing and working out for the last few years, and their relationship was so strong that many Sixers fans thought James might make the move to Philly during the off-season. Alas, a city's dream was broken when he unsurprisingly signed in Los Angeles with the Lakers. With the two players sharing quality time together, it's no surprise that Simmons is taking a lesson from the elder statesman about life beyond basketball.

Brotherly Love is loosely inspired by Simmons's life and will center around a multi-ethnic family located in Philadelphia (the title and location might ring a bell for those who remember the Lawrence brothers and their short-lived show). The show is set to focus on the sibling relationship as they chase their dreams in a city passionate about sports and will use Simmons's real-life experiences to help weave both characters and story.

Also on board for the show is executive producer Kourtney Kang, who most recently worked on Fresh Off the Boat. The script will be written by Patrick Kang (Kourtney's brother) and Micheal Levin. No info on a pilot or potential premiere at this time.
