Lloyd Kaufman speaks on the Toxic Avenger remake

I was lucky enough to get in touch with Lloyd Kaufman recently and picked his brain a little bit about the upcoming remake of The Toxic Avenger. If the lord and master of all things Troma is to be believed, there’s quite a budget behind the project.

"The $100 million remake of The Toxic Avenger is being written by Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine, High Fidelity) and produced by Akiva Goldsman (Oscar-winner for A Beautiful Mind)."

Also, he told me just how he feels about the spirit of Toxie in the hands of Akiva Goldsman and company.

"The spirit of Toxie says give this broken down low-budget filmmaker a big check. If Hollwood boys do that, Toxic justice will have been served."

Well, there you go. It’s been a long time coming for Toxie and his progenitor to get their due, and quite frankly, they deserve it. Stay tuned for more Toxic Avenger-related news as it develops!
