Mankind is safe, Robopocalypse postponed indefinitely

0

Director Steven Spielberg’s newest project, Robopocalypse, has been postponed indefinitely until further notice. This is after it has been already delayed from a 2013 release to that of a 2014 release. Spielberg’s spokesman Marvin Levy said that the project was “too important and the script was not ready, and it’s too expensive to produce. It’s back to the drawing board to see what is possible.” Robopocalypse was to star Chris Hemsworth of Marvel’s The Avengers, Anne Hathaway of Les Misérables, and Ben Whishaw of Skyfall. I’m not too surprised that this was postponed actually because production for Robopocalypse was supposed to take place in January 2012, but that stopped as Spielberg started focusing heavily on Lincoln.

I was somewhat interested in hearing more about this film, but in the back of my head I kept combining the plots of I, Robot and the Terminator series. The synopsis did sound like a brainchild of those two films, but they all have similar characteristics. Man-kind is incredibly reliant of machines, machines rise up against humans, machines proceed to harm or kill humans. Maybe Spielberg will hop back on the project after sometime. Who knows?
