Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy movie gets new writer

0

The 2014 Guardians Of The Galaxy adaptation is one of the more mysterious on Marvel's slate because no-one's exactly sure how they'll do it. It's crazier than any of the comic movies we've seen to date, concerning a team of intergalactic heroes (whose current lineup includes a plane flying, pistol-toting raccoon) who spend a considerable amount of time flying through space and travelling through time. It's wonderfully bonkers, but considering many people thought Thor could prove too fantastic for mainstream consumption, Marvel could be taking a big risk making Guardians one of next year's tentpoles.

Chris McCoy has been hired up to write the next draft of the script, with the original scribed by Nicole Perlman from Marvel's now closed writing program. McCoy hasn't got any credits on his IMDB page, but has seen three of his spec scripts placed on The Black List, an inventory of Hollywood's best unproduced screenplays. He's apparently known for his comic sensibility, indicating possible plans for a more tongue-in-cheek approach to the adventures of Star-Lord, Groot (who controls trees), Drax The Destroyer, Gamora and the aforementioned Rocket Raccoon. Check out 'The Thanos Imperative' comic series to understand why The Avengers' mid-credits teaser could be seen as a seeding this movie as much as the second outing of Marvel's first cinematic superhero team.
