New Releases, week of 3/16/13: Rising Pie Edition

Life of Pi, Rise of the Guardians, Sound City and more on DVD/Blu-ray

This week's arguably biggest home video release is Life of Pi (with its unfortunate two day early release date. Why not 3/14?) due to its baffling amount of Academy Awards (and I was sad when I realized it wasn't a documentary about baking pies). Joining Pi, is the holiday spectacle Rise of the Guardians (which helped no one with its floptitude), one of the Hitchcock movies (the Anthony Hopkins version) which neither hitched or cocked, and the interesting looking Dave Grohl directed Sound City.

In terms of re-releases, we have the new to Blu-ray Willow, Mulan/Mulan II, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the 25th anniversary edition of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Blob gets a Criterion release, and even Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman. Basically, everything you might have seen as a child is re-releasing on a new format this week. Also, expect yourself to spend at least 30 bones before the week is up. I grabbing Mulan and Life of Pi myself. Which means I'm probably never watching Life of Pi.

After the cut, this week's home video releases coupled with mmm...pie...
