New Releases, week of 6/1/13: Who Are You? Who, Who Ed.

0

We don’t usually highlight the TV releases on DVD and Blu-ray, but since this week is light on the movie side, we’re making an exception. The biggie this week is Doctor Who: Series Seven – Part Two, which includes “The Name of the Doctor.” Admittedly, I’m a bit behind Doctor Who right now, so Whovians, help me out here — Sylvester McCoy is still The Doctor these days, right?

On the movie side, new releases include Dark SkiesGeneration Um… with Keanu Reeves, Dead Mine with Joe Taslim (The Raid: Redemption), and Cate Shortland’s Lore, which I heard good things about and regret missing earlier this year. On the re-release end, Criterion’s putting out Mike Leigh’s Life is Sweet, there’s a 50th anniversary edition of Cleopatra (which we mentioned a few weeks ago), you can catch the great Spalding Gray monologue movie Swimming to Cambodia, and you can also buy a bunch of re-issued also-rans (e.g., the remake of Bedazzled, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Simply Irresistible).

After the cut, this week’s releases on DVD and Blu-ray, and a bit of whoosits and whatsits.
