New trailer for The Lion King drops during the Oscars

Disney's brand new take on this classic movie gives off all the feels

As we near closer to the new live-action remake of The Lion King, Disney dropped a brand new trailer last night during Hollywood's biggest night. The trailer, titled "Long Live the King," is literally a shot by shot recreation of the classic breathtaking opening from the original animated film. All the animals are, of course, gathering to greet the next King at Pride Rock but it looks absolutely stunning. Sure, it's not exactly live-action, mostly CGI but you have to give Disney credit where credit is due.

A new Lion King for a new generation that is sure to attract fans both old and new. What's important to note is that the first teaser trailer released for this film drew in about 224.6 million views within the first day it was released! The voice cast itself is absolutely stellar with James Ear Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba and many other big names, even Beyonce is involved taking on the role of Nala.

While no new footage was revealed, such as our first look at Scar, who will be voiced by Chiwetel Ejiofor, the trailer raises the hype for the film. Disney truly is going all out this year as we have previously reported with new takes on Dumbo and Aladdin due out this year. If their goal is to bring back fans or draw in new ones they seem to be doing a good job. Hopefully, box office numbers reflect that.

The Lion King roars back into theaters on July 19 and I can't wait.
