New Transformers: The Last Knight trailer is incomprehensible yet mesmerizing nonsense

A Michael Bay fever dream

The trailers for Transformers: The Last Knight have been absolutely daft. It's like Michael Bay has turned over his toy box and made big battles out of whatever action figures fell out. Now, this sounds great in theory--it's basically also the end of Time Bandits--but man, does this fifth Transformers movie look like a baffling clusterf**k of half-formed ideas, fully formed splosions, and Anthony Hopkins on autopilot.

Check out the latest trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight below.

Yeah, man. I don't freakin' know. Here's a synopsis, if it helps:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

What the hell does any of that gobbledygook mean? This movie's like a blockbuster adaptation of the Voynich manuscript.

Transformers: The Last Knight comes out June 23rd.
