Once Upon a Time in Hollywood added to Cannes lineup

Tarantino returns to France

In a late-game addition to the festival lineup, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will be making its international debut at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Hollywood is no doubt one of the biggest American films of the year, and might now be the biggest name at the Festival, though there was some doubt whether the film would make the mid-May soiree. On the late inclusion, General Delegate Thierry Frémaux mentioned he was "afraid the film would not be ready, as it wouldn’t be released until late July, but Quentin Tarantino, who has not left the editing room in four months, is a real, loyal and punctual child of Cannes."

It was 25 years ago that Pulp Fiction made its debut at the Festival, where it took away the Palme d'Or; top prize. Since then, 2009's Inglourious Basterds also premiered at the Festival.

Though this doesn't mean too much for us mortals (unless you're going to Cannes, in which case congratulations!) it's always fun to hear Festival reactions. We won't have too long to wait either, with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood releasing July 26th, 2019.
