Poster for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom is boss

The first trailer for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom hit back in January, and it looked like another promising bit of intelligent quirk. A painted poster for the film was just released, and it’s a real thing of beauty. The woods and the text dwarf Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward, the two stars of the film standing together at the bottom center. But there’s a sort of brash yet enchanting magic to it all — a fairy tale with a hint of a pre-adolescent sneer — just the sort of attitude you’d get from two kooky runaway kids in love.

And for you font lovers out there wondering about this new script squeeze that’s replaced Futura, here’s a bit of info: it’s a custom font created by Jessica Hische. I don’t think it has a name, at least not yet. You can check out more of her work at Jessica Hische’s official website.

In the gallery we have a keen-sized version of the poster for easy viewing. I’d encourage you to also check out the the full-size, hi-res version at Collider so you can enjoy the details for yourself. Moonrise Kingdom comes out May 25th.
