Ryan Reynolds basically confirms Deadpool 3 is happening

0

Big f&#%in surprise, right?

A few days ago on Live With Kelly and Ryan, actor Ryan Reynolds all but confirmed that Deadpool 3 is happening with Marvel. "Yeah we're working on it right now with the whole team," Reynolds said when asked about a new installment. "We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it."

It was likely inevitable that another Deadpool film would be made. The movies made a tremendous amount of money for Fox despite their R rating. Most studios worked under the assumption that R rated films were a death knell for wide success and Deadpool proved that wrong.

As for whether or not Deadpool 3 will be R rated remains to be seen. Disney CEO Bob Iger has expressed a desire to leave the foul mouthed mercenary alone, but plans could ultimately change. With the growing influence of overseas markets and even the release of Once Upon A Deadpool with a PG-13 rating, we could end up with a slightly neutered take on the figure.

Still, at least the film is happening. It would be a shame for the character to vanish into the ether. I'd have no problem with him not interacting with other characters, but I am holding out hope for some Spider-Man crossover.
