Showtime's Halo TV show announces cast, starts production

0

You say goodbye, I say Halo

Showtime has been working on their 10-episode Halo television series for what feels like ages. They seem to be making some real progress now with the show beginning production this very month in Hungary. In addition to that, three new cast members have been announced to be attacthed to this project. In addition to casting previously announced, Variety reports that Danny Sapani will play Captain Jacob Keyes, Olive Gray will play his daughter, Miranda Keyes, and Charlie Murphy will play an orphan named Makee.

This is exciting news for a Halo fan. After watching the announcement and then swift implosion of the Halo movie project as a teenager, I had lost all hope of seeing the video game series imagined in live action cinema. Microsoft's efforts at building an expanded universe have had mixed results, to put it kindly. Much is poorly written, or not given a sufficient budget to do the material justice. The last couple of games in the series have been let-downs for me, personally. Overall, it's been a rough few years for the franchise yet I remain optimistic. The next game in the series, Halo: Infinite, will launch in 2020 and could reinvigorate the fanbase. Hopefully, the television series does so as well.

The Halo television series is set to release in the first quarter of 2021 on Showtime.
