Silicon Valley's final season is coming this fall

One more go-around for Richard's anxiety

For five seasons, the core crew of Pied Piper has seen more than its share of ups and downs. Nervous doctor visits and schmoozing investors to stay afloat often coincided with threats of court hearings and production pivots. Through it all, the man behind the galaxy brain middle out algorithm persevered in the face of defeat and buyout offers. Creating a new Internet can be stressful.

With one season left on the books, Silicon Valley confirmed its return later this year via Twitter:

The seven-episode season will cap off a run that's been hailed as a hilariously accurate take on tech startups and the cutthroat predators trying to wrest control either by throwing cash or throwing lawyers. So accurate in fact, that in 2018 Microsoft founder Bill Gates wrote on his blog about how the show is one of the best ways for outsiders to understand the true Silicon Valley. Gates wrote:

"I have friends in Silicon Valley who refuse to watch the show because they think it’s just making fun of them. I always tell them: 'You really should watch it, because they don’t make any more fun of us than we deserve.' You can believe, as I do, that tech companies really are improving life with amazing tools and also admit that sometimes, who wins and who loses is pretty arbitrary. Somebody gets an idea almost right, but not quite, and their business fails; then someone else does it just a little bit better and they are viewed as a genius for the rest of their life. The show captures that perfectly."

Silicon Valley returns for its final season in October on HBO.
