Sion Sono's Love Exposure coming to New York City

0

If you have even the slightest interest in Japanese cinema (and you should!) and live in New York City or the surrounding area, you are in for a treat. The four hour epic Love Exposure by Sion Sono, director of films such as Suicide Club, Strange Circus, and Cold Fish, will be hitting Cinema Village this Friday (September 2). Those of you who followed our 2011 New York Asian Film Festival coverage (and who didn't?) might be interested to know that the film won NYAFF 2009's highly coveted Grand Jury Prize, and another of his films, Be Sure to Share, had its world premiere there. I've seen several of his films, and there is really nothing quite like them. They are dark, hyper-sexual, disturbing, and absolutely insane. Whether you like the films or not, they are experiences that are absolutely worth having.

Given the film's 237 minute runtime and incredibly limited release, I highly recommend the trip to anyone within a two hour commute. It's going to be a film that sticks with you for a long, long time. If you are not convinced, we are hoping to have a review of the film up later this week, so keep an eye out.
