Snowpiercer series set to chug along at TBS for a Spring 2020 debut

This train don't stop at season one!

With a tumultuous production history, things might start to roll along for real with the series adaptation of Bong Joon-ho's 2013 sci-fi spectacle Snowpiercer, with news today breaking that TBS would be picking the series up for not one but two seasons.

Originally being developed for TNT, the series is based on Bong's post-apocalyptic world in which survivors of a global ice-over travel in perpetual motion across the globe in a tricked out super train. My words, not theirs. The film in turn was based on the 1982 French comic Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette.

The show has suffered production delays including director and showrunner troubles, and now network swaps, but it looks like we might be pulling into station, with TBS committing to a second season in advance of the premiere. Time will tell whether the changing of guards will affect the series' quality.

Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs are set to star, with Orphan Black co-creator Graeme Manson running show.
