The history behind the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie is an odd one. After a massive backlash to the initial trailer spurred the decision to redesign the titular hedgehog, a delay to the film is primed to give the creative team the time it needs to properly nail Sonic's look in the final film. While we still don't know what that new look will be, the film's producer Tim Miller has told Variety that "fans will be pleased" with the end result.

"Look, I was with fans and so was Jeff," Miller said. "When the shit hit the fan, I went over there and said, 'The most important thing to do, man, is say, I fucked up.' He'd already sent a tweet out an hour before I got there...It was exactly the right way to handle that." Miller then stressed that the decision was an important one, regardless of whether or not the film would make its intended release date.

When questioned on if he had seen the new designs, Miller stated, "in fact I have. And I think the fans will be pleased." While that really isn't a lot of go off, it does at least show the studio is likely confident in its choice to delay the film. Hopefully, everything works out, because we'll never hear the end of it if Sonic ends up looking worse.
