Spidey reboot’s Flash Thompson casting is dead on

Flash! Ah-ah! Savior of the uni- Oh. Wrong Flash.

I’m pretty jazzed about the untitled Spider-Man reboot so far. With Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Dennis Leary as her dad, and no Mary Jane as far as the eye can see, there’s not much more I could ask for. Imagine the elation coursing through my body when I laid eyes on the perfect casting for Flash Thompson, ‘Puny’ Parker’s high school bully/head of the Spider-Man fan club.

Chris Zylka, star of the My Super Psycho Sweet 16 films, confirmed on his twitter that he will be filling the shoes (or, if you’re currently reading Amazing Spider-Man, nubs) of Eugene ‘Flash’ Thompson. Hopefully he’ll get a slightly bigger role than his predecessor, Joe Manganiello (True Blood), did. Obviously, it’s called Spider-Man, not Flash Thompson, but as far as enduring high school bully characters go, he’s up there with Billy from The Karate Kid and Biff from Back to the Future.

The movie’s still a ways off, with a projected release of July 3rd, 2012, but each morsel that they release gets me more and more excited.
