In a new report from Deadline, Spyglass Media Group has announced plans to adapt prolific author Stephen King's newest novel, The Institute, into a limited series. The creative team will be comprised of David E. Kelley and Jack Bender, two men that have previously worked on King mini-series' in the form of Mr. Mercedes and Bill Hodges. Kelley will be penning the script for The Institute while Bender will direct. Both are attached as executive producers.

Lauren Whitney, president of television for Spyglass, said this in a press release:

Having the opportunity to work on a new and brilliant book by Stephen King is an absolute privilege. We are thrilled to collaborate with this dream team, including the incomparable David E. Kelley, and Jack Bender, the architect behind this project, whose extensive directing and executive producing credits speak for themselves. After such a competitive pursuit, we have big plans for The Institute here at Spyglass.

King was excited about the prospect after having worked with the duo in the past. "I'm delighted to be working with Jack and David, the creative team behind Mr. Mercedes," he said. "We think alike, and I believe The Institute is going to be a great success." Bender then added, "I am thrilled to be working with Spyglass Media and couldn't be more excited that we'll be starting with Stephen King's extraordinary new book The Institute."

There's no timeframe for when this will all happen, but the show is likely to materialize in 2020. With King's name being hot again thanks to the success of the IT film adaptation, now seems like the ideal time to strike with a new series.
