By I’m not afraid to admit that I love Glee (hell, I’m not afraid to admit that I love Degrassi), so the rumor that Heather Morris, who plays the criminally dumb and endlessly adorable Brittany S. Pierce, is being considered to play the vampire-slaying Buffy in the upcoming reboot of the storied franchise fills me with a joy akin to Alex’s adventures with D-Boxing.
There does seem to be some confusion about whether or not casting has even come close to beginning, as screenwriter Whit Anderson tweeted last Monday “We’re not even thinking about casting yet…The script isn’t even written!†However, the tweets have since been removed. It’s a mystery straight out of the Hellmouth!
Whether or not casting has begun, Morris herself has heard the rumors and couldn’t be more excited. She told Access Hollywood “They’re considering me! I found out and I almost peed my pants ’cause I was so excited! If they make [‘Buffy’] when [‘Glee’] is on hiatus, I don’t even care what I do, I can just run through the shot and do nothing – even if I’m not Buffy!†It’s hard not to appreciate that kind of pure adulation and enthusiasm.

Of course, Flixist isn’t exactly thrilled about the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, but it’s happening and there’s nothing we can do about it. As far as I’m concerned, Heather Morris, while she’s no Sarah Michelle Gellar, would do just fine staking vamps, delivering witty repartee, and being generally hot. She has more than proven her talent and comedic ability on Glee, so here’s to hoping there’s more than a little truth to this rumor.
