Tancharoen fatalities his Mortal Kombat movie involvement

No one wins.

Kevin Tancharoen is singlehandedly responsible for Mortal Kombat's revival. While Netherrealm's game did a splendid job of getting everyone interested in the fighting game series again, Tancharoen's projects kept that hype afloat. First he produced that Mortal Kombat: Rebirth pitch which hit the Internet hard and garnered enough interest to branch that off into two seasons of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy webseries.

And because those were successful (and since Netherrealm was working on another game), there were rumblings of a new MK film (which would be a reboot of the series) alongside a new game with Tancharoen directing that. But that's not the case anymore. Tancharoen took to Twitter about his leaving the franchise:

After 3 years of Kombat, I've decided to move on to other creative opportunities. I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!

So now the MK reboot has no director and we have no idea how far along the movie is. While it's struggled in the past, this is a big blow. Is MK: Legacy in limbo also? I hope that huge cliffhanger goes somewhere.
