The first trailer for Murder on the Orient Express orients itself

Read the damn book

I should be really excited for Murder on the Orient Express. Kenneth Branagh directing a star studded cast in an Agatha Christie adaptation? Sign me up wherever you sign up for things you want to sign up for. But that's not actually the case. For one, the book has already been done perfectly with the 1974 adaptation (and again with the fantastic TV version), and for two, what the hell were they thinking with that song in the trailer?

Sometimes just one thing being off makes me insanely worried for a movie, and that one thing here is how out of place that song is. I forget what it's called, but it pretty much ruins that amazing Wes-Anderson-like shot that comprises most of the trailer and perfectly sets up the Christie murder cliche of a bunch of people gathered together. Everything about this movie looks like it could be amazing, even Kenneth Branagh's Poirot, but that song is just so... not. There's a time to use the contrast of a modern tune with a period piece, and this is not it.

Hopefully this was just a marketing snafu. Branagh should have a bit more sense.
