The Good Place has been renewed for season 4

Which is good

Perhaps it will never reach the popularity of say, Friends, but The Good Place is an excellent and unique sitcom in its own right. Luckily for fans of the Michael Schur-created show, the light-hearted, philosophy and ethics-driven comedy will be back for a fourth season. The Brainy Bunch is coming back, baby.

The premise of the show's current season has our main characters bound on Earth, and as they discover about their alternate lives in the Afterlife, absurdity ensues. The Good Place will eventually be joined by Brooklyn Nine-Nine during the midseason, a show co-created by Shur and revived by NBC after its cancellation by Fox.

I've always likened to The Good Place as Lost or Westworld, but as a half-hour comedy. It has a penchant for mystery, plot twists, cliffhangers, and general mindfuckery and existentialism. But as this comedy is a bit less stressful and more wholesome, it makes for more digestible viewing than those esoteric sci-fi dramas. It also helps that the writing and the performances from Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, and the rest of the stellar cast is just top notch.

The Good Place currently airs on NBC on Thursday nights.
