The Grand Budapest Hotel is a record-breaker

Wes Anderson reclaims his crown

Wes Anderson's latest kitsch-fest, The Grand Budapest Hotel, earned over $800,000 in the course of its first limited run. On Friday, the movie opened in four theaters -- two in NYC, two in LA -- earning over $200,000 per theater.

This breaks the record for biggest live-action limited release, previously held by Paul Thomas Anderson's critically acclaimed The Master. Before the late Philip Seymour Hoffman stole the hearts of millions, the previous record-holder was the also critically acclaimed Moonrise Kingdom.

According to our very own Nick Valdez, The Grand Budapest Hotel is fantastic. He'll be throwing up a review tonight, with any luck, along with more SXSW coverage. Keep an eye out for that!
