The Hobbit has now made one BILLION dollars worldwide

0

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has done pretty well for itself given its mixed reviews. Looks like the decision to turn a singular book into a trilogy has paid off since The Hobbit became the 15th film in history (for reference, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King also earned that much) to earn at least one billion (300 million domestically, 700 million everywhere else) dollars in ticket sales worldwide (not counting inflation).

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the foreign market The Hobbit performed the best in was surprisingly in Germany with 90 million. Even though the third film in the trilogy was delayed for undisclosed reasons, them Hobbits ain't goin' nowheres. Man, there's got to be a joke here somewhere. Oh well, I guess the header will do.
