The Irishman teaser is exactly that

The new Scorsese film hits later this year

A long, long time ago, way back in 2017, Netflix acquired the rights for Martin Scorsese's new gangster movie surrounding the death of Jimmy Hoffa. The film reunites Scorsese with Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel, and Joe Pesci, the latter of whom hasn't seen the movie screen since 2010. The film is based on the 2004 book "I Heard You Paint Houses" by Charles Brandt, in which the author reveals the confession of Frank Sheeran's possible involvement with the disappearance of Hoffa.

While the teaser doesn't show anything but a spinning casing and the leading cast's names, we do get a voice-over snippet using the age-old mobster euphemism for hiring a hit man. The phrase "paint houses" is the less obvious way to create a contract to kill, and references blood spatter on walls once the job is done. If there's anyone who's shown us that they can continuously raise the bar on mafia drama and blood spatter, it's Scorsese.

The Irishman is set for release on Netflix this fall.
