The Maze Runner getting a sequel because money

With the way Young Adult book films are made these days, production on a sequel has begun before the first film is even released. Thus when a film gets a successful run through the box office (or at the very least, a successful opening weekend like The Maze Runner had), it has the sequel ready to go. Fox confirmed the release date for the next film in James Dashner's four book series, and just saying the title ruins the first film's ending all together so read at risk and whatnot.

The Scorch Trials is set to release September 18th, 2015. Looks like we're getting yearly films folks.
