The Sims Spark’d brings virtual living to reality TV

0

The Sims Spark’d is a new competition reality show from developer Electronic Arts and TBS that tasks contestants with creating their best virtual lives. Focused on the popular video game series, a group of people will be using the tools found in The Sims 4 to create various different living arrangements and virtual avatars for a chance to win $100,000. That’s a blast from the past with regards to setup.

EA basically shadow dropped the news on the internet with barely any explanation for fans. The only reason I know anything about the show is that I happened to spot and watch the trailer a few hours ago. It doesn’t give us much to go off of, but it absolutely looks like something you’d find on MTV circa 2003 (for better or worse).

I have no idea why this is a thing that is happening in 2020, but I guess people really love The Sims. If you want to check out The Sims Spark’d, it will premiere on July 17 at 11:00 p.m. ET. It will then move to Buzzfeed Multiplayer on July 17 at 11:00 p.m. ET. At least it isn’t locked to some arbitrary subscription service.
