I have to be honest: I haven’t seen Gareth Edwards’ Monster. I did, however, interview him wayyyyyyyyyyy back when Flixist was just a little baby website, and he was a super cool dude. The man very clearly loves monster movies, as was evident with Godzilla. I was a little hesitant when I learned that he wouldn’t be returning for a second Monsters, but the film is in the hands of Tom Green (not this one), who directed six episodes from the first and second seasons of Misfits (including the first!), one of my favorite shows of all time. It also starts Joe Dempsie, who you’ll recognize from Skins and an obscure high fantasy show called Game of Thrones, so there’s that.
This film takes place ten years after the first, and the aliens have spread across the land. In the middle east, soldiers face the dual threats of terrorists and monsters, and four men from Detroit eagerly await their chance to play Starship Troopers.
It looks a lot less subtle than the first, to say the least, but I’ll be damned if that didn’t work wonders for The Purge: Anarchy. There’s a November 28th release date across the pond, but no word yet on a US release date. What are your thoughts on the trailer?[via Collider]
