Trailer: Oz the Great and Powerful

I'd forgotten that Sam Raimi was directing this! That alone is enough to make me want to see it. This is the trailer that was screened for people at Disney's Hall H panel at Comic-Con earlier today, and it looks a lot like Tim Burton's miscarriage-inducing Alice in Wonderland. That's by no means a bad thing, as Sam Raimi's a far more capable filmmaker than Tin Burton is these days, and it's not like Alice's problems were solely in the visual department.

All things considered, it's looking pretty. It's a short teaser, so there's not that much on display, but it could be fun. I especially love how our Kansas is in both black and white and in 4:3, and the transition where the world of Oz goes color and the lens changes to widescreen is surprisingly effective!
