Trailer: Tatsumi

0

“There’s so much humanity in these stories. What really captivates me is that he’s writing about the human condition.  They’re old tales, but they’re still so fresh,” says Eric Khoo, the director of the new animated film Tatsumi.

Tatsumi is about the legendary Japanese illustrator Yoshiro Tatsumi, who is widely credited with starting the "Gekiga" style of Japanese cartooning, which was used by artists who did not want their trade to be known as manga or "irresponsible pictures." It's similar to the idea of calling comics "graphic novels" as opposed to "comic books" for the same reasons. Tatsumi is set to premier at the Cannes Film Festival in France in a few days, and of course Tatsumi, the legend himself, will be in attendance. You can watch the trailer for Tatsumi above and I've placed a few bonus clips from the movie below the jump.
