Venom teaser poster promises a very Hot Topic experience

What studio exec is holding Tom Hardy's family hostage?

Sony has just released a teaser poster for the upcoming Venom stand-alone flick, starring Tom Hardy, a man destined to be too good for this role. It's all dark and brooding and gun metal, just the sort of thing you'd expect a marketing team to think teenagers think is cool. And who knows? Maybe they're right.

I haven't been around teenagers in a very long time, officer.

Against painted eyes, a pitch background, and flat text, that title text looks downright garish. It looks like a hood ornament someone would screw onto his dad's pinto to seem more badass. Whether the movie will stand apart from this poster remains to be seen, but given Sony's track record with the Spider-Man franchise, I wouldn't expect too much.

We'll get to see more soon, as a trailer will be dropping tomorrow.

Venom is slated to release October 5th, 2018.
