Warner Bros making R-rated animated Watchmen adaptation that no one wants

Milk that IP until it bleeds

According to Comic Book Resources, Warner Bros. will release a cartoon adaptation of Watchmen that will likely be rated R. CBR obtained a screenshot from a WB "A-List Community" survey that describes the project as a faithful made-for-video adaptation of the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons comic.

Hurm.

Here's the screenshot in question:

If Warner Bros Animation's 2016 adaptation of Alan Moore/Brian Bolland's The Killing Joke is any indication, this Watchmen cartoon isn't just superfluous, but it will also suck on toast.

This is just the latest instance of WB going back to the raw IP teets of the Watchmen cash cow. WB released a motion comic adaptation of Watchmen in 2008 to hype up Zack Snyder's live-action adaptation of Watchmen in 2009. In 2012, DC Comics (owned by Warner Bros.) put out a glut of Watchmen prequel comics under the banner Before Watchmen. Last year, the DC Comics line-wide relaunch (DC Rebirth) teased some sort of in-continuity tie-in to Watchmen.

The Watchmen Babies joke from The Simpsons was prophecy, folks.

Do you want an animated Watchmen adaptation? Really? I didn't expect you to wa-- No, I'm not impugning your taste, I just don't understand why you want this dreck when the comic book is just fine as is. Wait? I'm a snob? You're calling me a-- Fine. Fine. You win. I'm going to go for a walk and we can talk about this later when you've calmed down.

Let us know your feelings in the comments.
