Watch: The Wizard of Oz re-edited alphabetically (Of Oz the Wizard)

Home Like No Place There's

If you are a person of a certain age who has tried certain substances, you've probably synced The Wizard of Oz to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. It lent the movie an added air of weirdness and otherworldliness in the pop culture world. (Other syncs I've heard of but have yet to try: Fantasia to Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream and Twelve Monkeys to Radiohead's OK Computer.)

That weirdness and otherworldliness may explain Matt Bucy's Of Oz the Wizard, a re-edited version of The Wizard of Oz that restructures the entire film alphabetically. Watch all 100 minutes of it below.

(Warning: It features rapid cutting and non-sensical language bound to cause an uncanny sensation of alienation.)

I hear that Of Oz the Wizard syncs up perfectly to Melt Banana's MxBx 1998/13,000 Miles at Light Velocity.

This is one of those odd yet mesmerizing bits of avant-garde what-the-f**kery, sort of like watching Star Wars Episodes 1-6 all at the same time, the poetry of Christian Bok, or Walter Abish's novel Alphabetical Africa.

And I cannot not watch it.
