WISH I WAS HERE - Official Trailer - In Theaters July 18th

The first full trailer for Wish I Was Here, Zach Braff’s Kickstarter film, has appeared online. Braff himself debuted it this morning on The Today Show. It reveals quite a bit more about the film’s plot, and it finally shows Turk Donald Faison’s role in the film — an Aston Martin car salesman. It’s great to finally see this power couple on the big screen together.

It’s fairly safe to say that if you’re not a fan of Braff’s, or if you didn’t like Garden State, you probably won’t enjoy this film. As for me, I’m going to be there opening night — assuming it’s actually playing near me, of course.

I think my favorite part of the trailer is when Braff’s character, Aiden, is talking to his daughter, Grace, from their infinity pool (which is unbelievably awesome). As Grace looks down, she says that she’s scared to jump in, to which Aiden replies, “I know. I want you to jump in. I’m going to be here for you.” I feel like that’s something that we can all relate to in life. We all get scared at some point, especially in new and unfamiliar situations, and we all want that safety net.

The trailer features an original song by The Shins, written specifically for this film. It ends with a semi thought-provoking quote, similar to how Scrubs episodes ended: “When we were kids, my brother and I used to pretend we were heroes, the only ones who could save the day. But maybe we were just the regular people — the ones who get saved.” Wish I Was Here arrives in theaters on July 18th.
