Work begins on Resident Evil 6

Paul W.S. Anderson will direct yet again

The Resident Evil films aren't exactly known for being true to the game series, but I love them anyway. It should come as no surprise, then, that I'm excited for the news that Paul W.S. Anderson is hard at work on the next film.

At the Beijing International Film Festival, after a question from an audience member, Anderson noted that he was "going home to work on the next Resident Evil film", which he referred to as Rising Resident Evil, and stated that it will "definitely be in 3D".

That's pretty much all we have to go on at this point. Hopefully they won't go back to the crazy super natural storyline that they built up in the first few movies, only to completely trash it and start over in the fourth film (which was definitely the right move).

The next entry in the Resident Evil franchise is tentatively stated to arrive in theaters sometime next year.
