2014 just got sadder: No Pixar films to be released

Well, it was a good run folks. Pixar was kicking out high quality animated movies on a yearly basis since 2006, but the fun has to come to a stop. We just can’t have this many wonderfully human, touching and creative movies coming out so quickly. Thus, for the good of mankind, Pixar has delayed The Good Dinosaur from June 2014 to November 25, 2015. This also means that Finding Dory, which was scheduled for that exact day has now moved to June 17, 2016. By that time we should be once again able to handle the yearly release schedule of awesome.

Of course this leaves Disney with a summer opening and we can’t have that so they’ve bumped up Maleficent from July 2 to May 30 to cover their bases.

The delay for the The Good Dinosaur probably comes from the production troubles it is having. With one of its co-directors removed from the film things weren’t seeming to good for the movie to release on schedule. As for why the choice was made, Pixar president Ed Catmull sums it up: “Nobody ever remembers the fact that you slipped a film, but they will remember a bad film. Our conclusion was that we were going to give the [dinosaur] film some more time.”
