By Killer Klowns from Outer Space is one of those movies from grade school that my friends and I would go nuts over. Aliens eating people? Awesome! They’re creepy clowns too? Gnarly! And they use crazy, cartoony weapons? Radical! It remains a fond memory from that fearless latent period before full-blown fretful adolescence.
If you were a fan of the original, there’s some potentially promising news. It turns out the Chiodo Brothers are planning a “requel” to Killer Klowns, which means a remake and sequel all rolled into one. Personally, the involvement of the Chiodos seems better than a reimagining from people who weren’t involved with the original.
Best case scenario, a requel may mean an Evil Dead 2 take on Killer Klowns; worst case scenario, Texas Chainsaw Massacre IV. We await more details on the cotton candy guns and balloon animals of doom that await us. For now, just stare at the header and have unpleasant dreams later.
