By Park Chan-wook’s Stoker looks like a really promising English-language debut, with an icy Nicole Kidman and a sleazy-looking Matthew Goode doing psychological damage to Mia Wasikowska. Here’s a synopsis:
The story focuses on a mother and daughter, Evelyn Stoker (Kidman) and India (Wasikowska). Evelyn’s husband has recently died, and his funeral marks the arrival of Uncle Charlie (Goode), a relation that India didn’t even know she had. With Evie increasingly unstable, India is suspicious of the mysterious Charlie’s motives but finds herself drawn to him at the same time.
An international poster for Stoker has just been released with an accompanying video. The poster is gorgeous. In all that incredible detail you can spot little references to and images from the film. A limited print run of these posters will be released. The video, essentially a making-of for the poster, features the song “Becomes the Color” by Emily Wells. The song reportedly plays during Stoker‘s end credits.
